Make the path a witness of your dhikr
A pious predecessor known as Abū al-Malīḥ رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would make dhikr everywhere he went. If he ever forgot, he would return to the path and pass it a second time with dhikr.
“I want every part of the earth I pass by to be a witness of my dhikr on the Day of Judgement,” he would say.[1]
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه Our pious elders had such a beautiful habits. They were eager to increase their good deeds. Then there is us – we often give in to heedlessness. There are some who sin whilst travelling; watching films on coaches and planes etc., or walking the streets while playing music on their mobiles. Such people should consider what they are making the Earth a witness to.
The final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:
عَلَیْہَاخَیْراً وَّ شَرّاًاِلَّا ہِیَ مُخْبِرَةٌ وَاِنَّہٗ لَیْسَ مِنْ اَحَدٍعَامِلٍ فَاِنَّہَا اُمُّکُم مِنَ الْاَرْضِ تَحَفَّظُوْا
Safeguard yourselves from the Earth, as this is undoubtedly your origin. It shall testify regarding whoever performed a good or bad deed equal to an atom upon it. [2]
Dear Islamic brothers! The day and night will be witnesses over us too. They will say what we did in the light of day and in the darkness of night.
The final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:
When the day begins it announces, “O children of Ādam, I am a new creation amongst you. I will bear witness on the Day of
