Dear Islamic brothers! اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه We are Muslim, and every Muslim believes that after they die, they will be presented before Allah and made to give account for their deeds. The paths of righteousness and sin are both in front of us. It is now up to us; do we walk upon the path of obedience seeking to please Allah, or do we pollute ourselves with sin and displease Him?

Remember! If we walk the path of righteousness, then along with pleasing Allah, He will also gift us countless blessings. If we instead adopt the path of sin, then disobedience of Allah and the evil of our sins will result in our ultimate misfortune.

In today’s speech, we will discuss sin and the cursed outcomes it leads to. Let us begin by listening to two stories.

The punishment of Allah upon a worshipper

Sayyidunā ʿAbdullah bin Zayd رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ once said:

In the initial days of a month, I passed by a graveyard and saw a person coming out of a grave pulling on a chain, whilst another person pulled on the same chain but in the other direction. The second pulled the first towards himself, resulting in the first returning to the grave.

The second then proceeded to strike and beat the first. “Did I not offer salah?”, the first person said, “Did I not perform ghusl from impurity? Did I not fast?” The person striking the other then declared, “Yes, indeed you did! Yet you sinned when in solitude and did not fear Allah at that time.”
