    3.   one becomes distanced from Paradise;

    4.   one comes close to Hellfire;

    5.   it causes difficulty to his most beloved thing (meaning, his soul);

    6.   it leaves his otherwise pure inward state, dirty and impure;

    7.   it causes pain to the angels who write his deeds (kirāman kātibīn);

    8.   it saddens the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in his blessed grave;

    9.   it makes the earth, sky and all of creation a witness to his disobedience;

    10.   it is dishonesty to all humankind and disobedience to the Lord of all the worlds.[1]

    Dear Islamic brothers! Everyone knows about how sin can damage your Hereafter and lead to severe punishments either in Hellfire or the grave, but remember, sinning can also lead to a person acquiring great harm in this world as well. Here are some of them:

    1.   Reduction in livelihood.

    2.   Calamities surrounding from all sides.

    3.   Decrease in lifespan.

    4.   Sudden weakness in the heart or sometimes entire body, which leads to ill-health.

    5.   Being deprived of the opportunity to perform worship.

    6.   Mental disorders developing.

    7.   A person becoming disgraced in people’s eyes.
