Yet I take an oath by Allah! I have never seen a king respected as much by his followers, compared to the extent Muhammad ( صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ) is respected by his Companions (عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ).

By Allah! Whenever he would cast saliva out of his mouth, his Companions would ensure it came onto their palms. They would then rub it onto their faces and bodies. Whenever he issued an order for them, they would immediately act upon it. Whenever he made wudu, it seemed as though his Companions would come close to battling one another, just to attain the water he used. Whenever he spoke, they lowered their voices. Out of utmost respect, reverence and manners, they did not even raise their eyes to look at him fully.^[1]

Another incident like this is reported by Abū Juḥayfah  رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ . His father, who told him this event, says:

I saw Bilāl رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ with some water used by the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم for wudu. The Companions ran to acquire some of it. Whoever acquired even a little began to rub it (upon their faces and bodies). Whoever was not able to get water directly began to take some of the remaining moisture from the hands of those who did.^[2]

Dear Islamic brothers, truly, the honourable Companions عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ were overflowing with love and respect for the Messenger of Allah  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . The way they showed respect for him is an example unmatched across the pages of history.

Through their virtuous character, the Companions عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ left an indelible example for all Muslims until the Day of Judgement. They perfectly showed how a member of this ummah should show utmost
