صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Some accounts of the beloved Prophet’s forbearance

Dear Islamic brothers, our condition is such that we make trivial disagreements into lifelong problems and do not want to reconcile. It was the practice of our Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم that he never took revenge for personal reasons. Let us listen to 4 accounts about the beloved Prophet’s forbearance in order to become reflections of the noble Prophet’s sunnah.

1.   The Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم once fell asleep on a journey. Meanwhile, Ghawrath Bin Haarith took his sword and unsheathed it to kill him. When the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم awoke, Ghawrath asked, “O Muhammad! Who will save you from me?” ‘Allah Almighty’ replied the beloved Prophet  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . Upon hearing the awe of Prophethood, the sword fell from his hand. The Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم took the sword and asked, “Now who will save you from me?” Ghawrath begged for his life to be spared. The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم forgave him and let him go. When Ghawrath returned to his tribe, he told them that he had returned from a person who is the best of all mankind.[1]

2.   Sayyiduna Anas رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ narrates, “Once, I was walking alongside the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم while he was wearing a Najraani shawl[2] with thick and rough edges. Suddenly, a Bedouin grabbed it and pulled it with such force that it left a bruise on the blessed neck of the Prophet  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . Then he said, “Order that I be given a share from the wealth that Allah Almighty has placed under your
