Keep in mind that the best of the aforementioned is ‘مُعْتَدِل’ because fear is like a whipping that is done to animals to get them to run faster. Therefore, if the whipping is so weak that there is no difference to the speed of the animal, then there is no benefit to it. If the whipping is extremely strong such that the animal cannot cope with it and becomes wounded to the extent that it cannot move, then this is also not beneficial. If it is moderate, and there is an increase in the animal’s movement and it is not injured or wounded, then this whipping is of great benefit. (Derived from, Ihya-ul-‘Uloom, vol. 4, p. 192)
