please others and console them. Those blessed personalities would please others and receive comfort in their own hearts. Let’s listen to some parables of pious people of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ pleasing others and Madani pearls gained from them:

Farooq-e-A’zam رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ helping a family

One night, Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen, Sayyiduna ‘Umar Farooq-e-A’zam رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ saw a tent whilst walking through the streets of Madina-tul-Munawwarah. When he got closer, he heard the voice of someone suffering a difficulty. There was a person sat outside the tent. He gave Salaam to him and asked him about what happened, and found out that he wanted to meet the Khalifah of the time. However, he did not know that the Khalifah of the time was in front of him. Nevertheless, he told him that his wife was in labour and was close to giving birth.

Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen, Sayyiduna ‘Umar Farooq-e-A’zam رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ came back home and asked his honourable wife, Sayyidatuna Umm-e-Kulsoom bint-e-‘Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْـهُمَا: ‘Do you want to earn reward? Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ has Himself brought it to you.’

She replied: ‘Huzoor! What is it?’

He answered: ‘A woman is close to giving birth and there is no one with her.’

She said: ‘If you are happy then I’ll go.’

He replied: ‘Okay. You gather the important supplies, etc.’

When they reached the tent, Sayyiduna ‘Umar Farooq-e-A’zam رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ sent his wife inside and sat outside with the person. He said to him: ‘light the fire.’ The person lit the fire and so Sayyiduna ‘Umar Farooq-e-A’zam رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ put a pot over it.

When the food inside the pot was cooked, on the other side, the child was also born. His wife called out from inside: ‘O Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen! Inform your companion that he has a son.’
