wake up to the fact. Obeying Allah Almighty and His Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم we should give religious upbringing to our children. They should be taught how to recite the Holy Quran, Islamic manners. We should also make efforts to improve their manners. They should be taught the love of Allah Almighty and the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم; they should be made to ponder over the Hereafter; they should be made to prepare for death; they should be told about different sins and also be protected from those sins.

The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has already pointed out that there will be a time when it will be very difficult to act upon Sunnah, remain steadfast in religion and remain patient on the hardships in this path. Let’s listen to two blessed sayings of the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in this regard and try to follow Sunnah firmly.

Following Sunnah will become like holding burning coal:

1. The Rasool of mankind, the Peace of our heart and mind, the most Generous and Kind صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: اَلْمُتَمَسِّكُ بِسُنَّتِي عِنْدَ اِخْتِلَافِ اُمَّتِي كَالْقَابِضِ عَلَى الْجَمْر i.e. The person who follows my Sunnah firmly during the conflict of my Ummah will be like the one who holds a burning coal on his palm. (Nawadir-ul-Usool, Al-Juz-ul-Awwal, pp. 68, Hadees 87)

2. The Beloved and Blessed Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: يَاْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ الصَّابِرُ فِيْهِمْ عَلٰى دِينِهٖ كَالقَابِضِ عَلَى الجَمْرِ An era will come upon people when the person who stays patient on his religion amongst them will be like the one who holds a burning coal. (Sunan-ut-Tirmizi, vol. 4, pp. 115, Hadees 2267)

Commenting on the above-mentioned Hadees, the renowned commentator of the Holy Quran, the great thinker of the Ummah, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Na’eemi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has stated, ‘This era will be near the Judgement Day which has already started. At the present time, it is difficult to live a religious life. Today, it is hard to offer Salah regularly. Refraining from usury [i.e. interest] is almost impossible.’ He رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has further stated, ‘As it is possible only for a greatly patient person to place a burning coal on his palm
