)3( It is related to the relatives of both such as real brothers, sisters.

5. In Zee-Mahram, the closer is the relationship, the more will be his/her right. The relation of brother and sister is stronger than the brother of father and brother of mother, therefore they have the right first.

6. There are two types of relatives:

)1( The ones with whom Nikah is Haraam such as the sister of father and mother, etc. To serve them is Fard when they need and if someone does not do it, he will be a sinner.

)2( The relatives with whom Nikah is Halal such as cousins. To do them a favour and treat them well is Sunnat-e-Muakkadah and brings reward.

7. In addition, it is necessary to treat all relatives well or rather all Muslims well and to inflict pain upon them is Haraam.

8. There are some Mahram amongst in-laws and milk relatives such as mother-in-law and wet-nurse, and some are not Mahram. All of them have rights, even neighbours have rights in Islam, but these people are not included in this Ayah.

What treatment should be given to which relative

Dear Islamic brothers! When the category of relationship changes, the levels of treating relatives well also changes. Parents’ status is the highest one amongst relatives, then comes the rank of those with whom Nikah is Haraam forever due to Nasab [lineage], then the rest of the relatives according to their relation will deserve good treatment.
