Sunan and manners about Janazah [funeral]
Dear Islamic brothers! Let’s listen to a few Madani pearls about Janazah [funeral]. First, listen to the following two sayings of the Beloved and Blessed Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم:
٭ The Greatest Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: When a Heavenly person passes away, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ feels shy (befitting His status) in punishing those who carried the bier of that person and those who followed the funeral procession and those who offered his funeral Salah. (Al-Firdaus bima Soor-il-Khattab, vol. 1, pp. 282)
٭ The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: The very first reward given to the true believer on his death is that all the participants of his funeral Salah are forgiven. (Attargheeb Wattarheeb, vol. 4, pp. 178, Hadees 13)
٭ One should attend the Janazah with good intentions like seeking the pleasure of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ, fulfilling the obligation, expressing condolences to the deceased and his family etc.
Further important Madani pearls about ‘Janazah [funeral]’ will be mentioned during the Tarbiyyati Halqahs. So, please attend the Tarbiyyati Halqahs to learn about these Madani pearls.
٭ While going with the Janazah, keep thinking about your own fate that you will also be taken one day in the same way as this person is being taken today; you will also be buried in the same way as this person is going to be buried beneath tons of soil. It is ‘Ibadat [worship] and a source of earning Sawab to contemplate in this manner.
