Hearing this, Sayyidatuna Khadija رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا became keen to marry him. (Madarij-un-Nubuwwah, vol. 2, pp. 27)

The marriage proposal

Sayyidatuna Khadijah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was an extremely modest woman. Due to her chastity, people of Makkah used to call her Taahirah (chaste). Leaders of Quraysh desired to marry her but she refused the marriage proposals of all     of them. But after looking at the character and blessed acts of Holy Rasool         صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and after listening to the astonishing events of Holy Rasool    صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, a desire arose in her heart to marry Holy Nabi صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Therefore, she رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا called the (paternal) aunty of Holy Rasool                       صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Sayyidatuna Safiyyah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا, and inquired further from her regarding some of the personal circumstances of Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Then she sent the marriage proposal herself to Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم through Sayyidatuna Nafeesah Bint Umayyah. The famous historian on the Seerah, Sayyiduna Imam Ibn Ishaaq writes that Sayyidatuna Khadijah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا mentioned the following reason to Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم for this marriage proposal that: I liked you because of your good character and due to your truthfulness. تِرا خُلق سب سے بالا تِرا حُسن سب سے اعلٰی

فِدا تُجھ پہ سب زمانہ مَدَنی مدینے والے

Short explanation: O Beloved Master صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! Your blessed character is best among all and your enlightened beauty is the most graceful among all. The grace of your beauty is such O Master of Madinah صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم that the whole world is sacrificed upon you.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                      صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
