Whoever, out of love, names his child ‘Muhammad’, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ will have mercy on him, as it does not befit His dignity to punish such a person who names his child ‘Muhammad’ out of love and devotion to His Beloved.

Elaborating further on the blessings of the name ‘Muhammad’, Mufti Sahib رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has said: Usually everybody is named on the seventh day of their birth, but Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ had named the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم even before the birth of the [entire] creation, as Sayyiduna Aadam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام found the same name [i.e. Muhammad] written on the heights of the ‘Arsh. The ark [ship] of Sayyiduna Nuh عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was also completed [built] due to the blessing of this name. Blessed Ambiya عَـلَـيْـهِمُ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّـلَام had made Du’as with the Wasilah of this name. The meanings of the blessed names of other Ambiya are not as excellent as the name ‘Muhammad’, which means the faultless and worthy of praise and admiration in every way. By the blessings of the name of the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, success will be achieved in the test of the grave and salvation in the Hereafter. In short, the blessed name of the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is so blessed that it brings about a fundamental change in a human. (Shah Habib-ur-Rahman, pp. 55)
