Dear Islamic brothers! Surely fear of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ is a very great blessing. Unless we get this great blessing we cannot get rid of sins and it is almost impossible to love virtuous deeds. Once we attain this great blessing, it will become easy for us to perform virtuous deeds and stay safe from sins. The fear of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ which develops in the heart of a true believer protects him from sins and guides him to the right path of performing virtuous deeds. What is this great blessing? What is fear of Allah called? Let’s listen to something about it.

On page 26 of his excellent book ‘Kufriyah Kalimat kay baaray mayn Suwal Jawab’, Shaykh-e-Tareeqat, Ameer-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat, the founder of Dawat-e-Islami, ‘Allamah Maulana Abu Bilal Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qaadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـه has stated: Fear of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ means that one should be scared of Allah’s Hidden Plan, His Bay-Niyazi (absolute self-reliance), His anger, His punishment, His torments, His wrath and the destruction of faith as a result of it, etc. At many places in the Holy Quran Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ has commanded true believers to adopt this sacred attribute: It is stated in Ayah 131 of Surah An-Nisa, part 5:

وَ لَقَدْ وَصَّیْنَا الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَ اِیَّاكُمْ اَنِ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: And indeed We have emphasised to those who received the Books before you, and to you, that keep fearing Allah.

Similarly, it is stated in Ayah 70 of Surah Al-Ahzaab, part 22:

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَ قُوْلُوْا قَوْلًا سَدِیْدًاۙ(۷۰)

Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: O believers! Fear Allah, and talk straight.

It is stated in Ayah 175 of Surah Aal-e-‘Imran, part 4:

وَ  خَافُوْنِ  اِنْ  كُنْتُمْ  مُّؤْمِنِیْنَ(۱۷۵) 

Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: And fear Me, if you are believers.
