His appellations

Sayyiduna Talhah Bin ‘Ubaydullah رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ would be so generous and would host many feasts, that the Beloved and Blessed Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم bestowed him with the titles ‘طَلۡحَةُ الۡفَيَّاض’ [Talhah-tul-Fayyad], ‘طَلۡحَةُ الۡجُوۡد’ [Talhah-tul-Jood] and ‘طَلۡحَةُ الۡخَيۡر’ [Talhah-tul-Khayr]. Therefore, Sayyiduna Talhah Bin ‘Ubaydullah رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ himself has stated, ‘On the day of (the battle) Ghazwah Uhud, the Noble Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم called me by the title of ‘Talhah-tul-Khayr’, and Talhah-tul-Fayyad in the Ghazwah ‘Ushayrah and on the occasion of Ghazwah Hunayn, he صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم called me with the title of Talhah-tul-Jood’. Reason for being blessed with appellations

Sayyiduna Imam ‘Abdur Ra`oof Munaawi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has stated: The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم called Sayyiduna Talhah Bin ‘Ubaydullah رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ with these titles because of his acts of enormous generosity.

§  Once he رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ sold a piece of land for 7 hundred thousand and distributed it all among the poor.

§  Once one of his relatives asked for something, he رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ immediately gave him (from his own pocket) 300 dirhams or dinars.
