Surah Al Anfal Ayat 2 Translation Tafseer

Para 9 - قَالَ الْمَلَاُ

سورة الانفال

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

8.2

اِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ الَّذِیْنَ اِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّٰهُ وَ جِلَتْ قُلُوْبُهُمْ وَ اِذَا تُلِیَتْ عَلَیْهِمْ اٰیٰتُهٗ زَادَتْهُمْ اِیْمَانًا وَّ عَلٰى رَبِّهِمْ یَتَوَكَّلُوْنَﭕ(2)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

The believers are the very people whose hearts tremble with fear when Allah is remembered;[1] and when His verses are recited to them their faith is strengthened, and they only place their trust in Allah.[2]

Commentary

There are two types of fear of Allah Almighty, viz; 1. Refraining from sin due to the fear of punishment; 2. Fearing the Wrath, Greatness and Infinite Independence of Allah Almighty. The first type is expressed by the righteous among the normal people; the second type is expressed by the prophets, messengers, saints, and elevated angels according to their nearness to Allah Almighty.

The real meaning of the term relying on Allah Almighty (tawakkul) is for one to utilise apparent means and instruments at his disposal without definitively placing his trust in them but instead placing trust in the aid and support of Allah Almighty.
