regarding his missed salah. The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم then issued an order, and the sun rose back into the sky. Sayyidunā ‘Ali کَـرَّمَ الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَـالٰی وَجۡـھَـهُ الۡـکَـرِیۡم then offered his ‘Asr salah, after which the sun set.
One distinct lesson from this event is derived from how Sayyidunā ‘Ali کَـرَّمَ الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَـالٰی وَجۡـھَـهُ الۡـکَـرِیۡم did not want to affect the sleep of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم , despite missing salah in the process. Salah itself is one of the greatest acts of worship, and ‘Asr salah holds particular importance, as it is also entitled Salāt al-Wustā. Bearing all of this in mind, he sacrificed one of the greatest acts of worship upon the sleep of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . (This highlights how respecting him is critically more important than every farḍ and wājib). [1]
