Hajj Ke Fazail

Book Name:Hajj Ke Fazail

It is mentioned in Tafsir Ṣirāt al-Jinān: Hajj is to tie the ihrām, spend the 9th of Zul-Hijjah in ‘Arafat, and to perform tawaaf of the Kaaba. If these actions are performed in their specially prescribed times, Hajj will be complete. Adding to this, Hajj became obligatory in the 9th year after Hijrah. The obligation to perform it is absolutely categorical, and anyone who denies Hajj being obligatory becomes a disbeliever.[1]

There are three obligatory acts in Hajj:

1.   Ihrām

2.   Standing (wuqūf) in ‘Arafat

3.   Ṭawaaf al-ziyārah.

There are also three types of Hajj:

1.   Ifrād: in which only the ihrām of Hajj is worn

2.   Tamattu’: in which the ihrām of Umrah is worn first. After completing Umrah and exiting ihrām, a person then wears the ihrām of Hajj whilst on the same journey.

3.   Qirān: in which the ihrām of Hajj and Umrah are both worn at the same time. After completing Umrah, the restrictions imposed on a person by ihrām do not come to end, and instead remain established.

The details of Umrah are as follows: In Umrah, one must tie the ihrām, perform tawaf of the Kaaba, perform sa’ee of Safa and Marwa, and then shave the head. Every ruling of Hajj and Umrah has a lot of detail, and part 6 of Bahar-e-Shariat should be read for more information about this.
