etiquette. Our hands are not worthy of touching the blessed golden grilles, and so remain at least four handspans (two yards away). It is enough that the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم called us to him and blessed us with his special merciful gaze.^[1]

Now give salaam in these words in a moderate tone; not too loud that your good deeds are wasted, and not too quiet, as this is against the Sunnah:

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ اَیُّھَا النَّبِیُّ وَرَحْمَۃُ اللّٰہِ وَ بَرَکَاتُہ ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَارَسُوْلَ اللّٰہِ ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَاخَیْرَ خَلْقِ اللّٰہِ ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَاشَفِیْعَ الْمُذْنِبِیْنَ ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ وَعَلٰی اٰلِکَ وَاَصْحَابِکَ وَاُمَّتِکَ اَجْمَعِیْنَ

Meaning, O Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! Peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you. O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, peace be upon you. O greatest of creation, peace be upon you. O intercessor of the sinful, peace be upon you. Peace be upon you, your family, your companions and your nation.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

For as long as you are able to, continue to present salaam to the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم by using different titles. If you do not remember any other titles, repeat اَلصَّلٰوۃُوَالسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰہ. Also, present the salaam of those who requested you to do so. Make an abundance of du’as there and seek the intercession of the noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم through these words: اَسْئَلُکَ الشَّفَاعَۃَ یَارَسُولَ اللّٰہِ صَلَّی اللہُ  عَلَیْہِ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم i.e., “O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I seek your intercession.”

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
