اٰمِیْن بِجَاہِ النَّبِیِّ الْاَمِیْن صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                  صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

The correct method of spreading the call towards righteousness

In the 14th section (juzz) of the Holy Quran, Surah An-Nahl, verse number 125, Allah Almighty states:

اُدْعُ اِلٰى سَبِیْلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ

Call towards the path of your Lord with sound planning and good advice.

[Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 14, Surah An-Nahl, Verses 125)

This glorious verse gives a complete syllabus in regards to giving invitations towards goodness. First, we heard about the excellence of he who calls towards goodness. Now, in the light of this blessed verse, let us learn about the correct way of conveying the call to righteousness. Allah Almighty stated: ‘اُدْعُ’ – ‘Call’ A question may come in mind: ‘Who should we call?’ The commentators of the Holy Quran here explain this to mean: ‘Every human in the world!’ (Tafseer Baydawi, Parah 14 Surah An-Nahl, under the Verse 125, vol. 3, p. 245)

Imam Ghazali رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states: ‘There is only one condition for the مُحْتَسَبْ (meaning, the one who is to be invited to goodness; the recipient of the invitation to righteousness), he should be a human.’ (Ihya-ul-‘Uloom, vol. 2, p. 1162)
