Sayyiduna ‘Aamir رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ states: I was from among the Ashab-us-Suffah. ‘One day I fasted. In the evening, I felt pain in my stomach so I went to relieve myself. When I returned, the Ashab-us-Suffah had eaten their food. The rich people of Quraysh used to send food to the Ashab-us-Suffah. On the way, I met the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and he said: ‘O Abu Hurayrah! The smell of your mouth is very strong today.’ I replied: ‘Yes! I O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I fasted today and I have not broken my fast yet and I do not have anything to break my fast with.’ The Merciful Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم took me to his house and asked for a bowl in which some food had been left over. I felt as if someone had eaten barley in it. There was some food left on the sides of the bowl which
