several times. Eventually, the police arrested him. It was his good fortune that in the jail, he was blessed with the company of the devotees of the Prophet’s movement, Dawat-e-Islami. Through the blessings of the individual efforts of the preacher of Dawat-e-Islami, he was blessed to learn the entire Quran in the Madrasa Faizan-e-Quran. He learnt how to offer Salah. Alongside this, he also learnt the 6 Kalimahs, Iman-e-Mufassal, Iman-e-Mujmal and the last 10 Surahs of the Holy Quran by heart. After this, he started a new life which was free of crimes. He states himself: ‘The Madani environment of Dawat-e-Islami and the compassion of the Islamic brothers awoke my conscience and gave me a chance to reform myself.’

صَلُّوۡ اعَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                                                صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic Brothers! If we look at the events of the saints, we will come to know that they used to try to spend for the religion which would result in not only temporary benefits, but also for the benefits of the future generations. In this regard, the incident of the Imam of millions of Hanafis, Sayyiduna Imam-e-A’zam Abu Hanifah رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه sponsoring his own student, Imam Abu Yusuf رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه, is a shining example for us. Let us hear about it.

Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه bestowed knowledge and wealth

Sayyiduna Imam Abu Yusuf رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه himself says: ‘I spent time in Kufa as a student of Hadith and Fiqh. Initially, I belonged to a very poor family. One day my father took me to the service of Imam Abu Hanifah رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه. I began studying there. My father came home and said to me: ‘Son, do not sit with your feet spread towards Imam Abu Hanifah رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه, this is a disrespectful manner.’ Then my father said to me: ‘O my son! We are poor people. The food of the rich is fatty lavish foods, whereas, we survive on dry bread. We are very destitute.’

Saying this, my respected father stopped me from going to the gatherings of Imam Abu Hanifah رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه. When Imam A’zam رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه found me absent, he asked those who knew me: ‘Why is Ya’qoob not attending?’
