Surah Sad Ayat 71-72-73-74-75-76-77-78 Translation Tafseer

Para 23 - وَ مَا لِیَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

38.71-72-73-74-75-76-77-78

اِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلٰٓىٕكَةِ اِنِّیْ خَالِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّنْ طِیْنٍ(71) فَاِذَا سَوَّیْتُهٗ وَ نَفَخْتُ فِیْهِ مِنْ رُّوْحِیْ فَقَعُوْا لَهٗ سٰجِدِیْنَ(72) فَسَجَدَ الْمَلٰٓىٕكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ اَجْمَعُوْنَۙ (73) اِلَّاۤ اِبْلِیْسَؕ-اِسْتَكْبَرَ وَ كَانَ مِنَ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ(74) قَالَ یٰۤاِبْلِیْسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ اَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِیَدَیَّؕ-اَسْتَكْبَرْتَ اَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْعَالِیْنَ(75) قَالَ اَنَا خَیْرٌ مِّنْهُؕ-خَلَقْتَنِیْ مِنْ نَّارٍ وَّ خَلَقْتَهٗ مِنْ طِیْنٍ(76) قَالَ فَاخْرُ جْ مِنْهَا فَاِنَّكَ رَجِیْمٌﭕ(77) وَّ اِنَّ عَلَیْكَ لَعْنَتِیْۤ اِلٰى یَوْمِ الدِّیْنِ(78)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

When your Lord said to the angels, “I am about to make a human being from clay. [1] So when I have formed him completely and blown into him a special soul of Mine, then fall into prostration to him.” So all the angels prostrated, together. Except Iblīs (Satan). He resorted to arrogance and became among the disbelievers. He (Allah) said, “O Iblīs! What has prevented you from prostrating before that which I created with My hands? Have you resorted to arrogance or were you always among the conceited?” He said, “I am better than him. You created me from fire and you created him from clay.” He said, “Be gone from it (Paradise), indeed you are accursed. My curse is upon you until the Day of Judgement.”

Commentary

As the Makkan disbelievers would argue with the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم out of conceit and jealousy, Prophet Ādam’s creation and Satan’s refusal to prostrate have been mentioned here so that the disbelievers of Makkah heed advice and refrain from being jealous and arrogant.
