Surah Az Zumar Ayat 38 Translation Tafseer

Para 24 - فَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ

سورة الزمر

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

39.38

وَ لَىٕنْ سَاَلْتَهُمْ مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ لَیَقُوْلُنَّ اللّٰهُؕ-قُلْ اَفَرَءَیْتُمْ مَّا تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اِنْ اَرَادَنِیَ اللّٰهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلْ هُنَّ كٰشِفٰتُ ضُرِّهٖۤ اَوْ اَرَادَنِیْ بِرَحْمَةٍ هَلْ هُنَّ مُمْسِكٰتُ رَحْمَتِهٖؕ-قُلْ حَسْبِیَ اللّٰهُؕ-عَلَیْهِ یَتَوَكَّلُ الْمُتَوَكِّلُوْنَ(38)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

And were you to ask them, “Who created the heavens and the earth?” They will most definitely say, “Allah.” Say, “Do reveal regarding those whom you worship other than Allah that if Allah intends to harm me, will they dispel His harm, or if He intends to bestow mercy upon me, can they impede His mercy?” Say, “Allah is sufficient for me. Those who trust place their trust in Him.” [1]

Commentary

Reliance, (tawakkul) means to entrust a matter to someone else. To have reliance on Allah Almighty means to entrust matters to Him, knowing that He is the ultimate disposer of affairs. A hadith states: “Whoever relies on Almighty, Allah Almighty will be sufficient for him in every difficulty and grant him sustenance from a place he never thought of. And whoever relies upon the world, Allah Almighty will give him over to the world.” (Al-Mu’jam Al-Awsaṭ: 3359)
