Surah At Taghabun Ayat 14 Translation Tafseer

Para 28 - قَدْ سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ

سورة التغابن

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

64.14

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اِنَّ مِنْ اَزْوَاجِكُمْ وَ اَوْلَادِكُمْ عَدُوًّا لَّكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوْهُمْۚ-وَ اِنْ تَعْفُوْا وَ تَصْفَحُوْا وَ تَغْفِرُوْا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِیْمٌ(14)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

O you who believe! Indeed among your wives and your children some are your enemies, so be wary of them. [1] And if you pardon, and overlook, and forgive then indeed Allah is Most-Forgiving, Most-Merciful. [2]

Commentary

Although migrating to Madinah was an obligation for the Companions, some of them were told by their wives and children not to go. As a result, this verse was revealed. Such actions, even from family members, demonstrate conduct like that of an enemy, for they are creating problems for one’s life in the Hereafter. Hence, a request as such will not be acceded to in such matters.

Forgiving the shortcomings of one’s wife and children is beloved to Allah Almighty. We too should try to advise in a suitable manner if they make a mistake and forgive them too.
