Mankind and the Station of Khilafah

Book Name:Mankind and the Station of Khilafah

Another narration mentioned that Allah Almighty sent a revelation to Prophet Mūsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم saying, “Whoever commands good, forbids evil, and calls people to obey Me, shall be under the shade of My Arsh on the Day of Judgement.”[1]

Sayyidunā Kab al-Abār رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said, “Jannat al-Firdaws is specifically for those who enjoin good and forbid evil.”[2]

Imam Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī al-ShāfiꜤī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه narrates in Sharh al-Ṣudūr that Allah Almighty declared to Sayyidunā Mūsā  عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم, “Learn good things yourself and teach them to others. I shall illuminate the graves of those who learn and teach goodness, so they shall not face any kind of loneliness therein.”[3]

May Allah Almighty grant all of us the ability to act upon this. Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ has authored an excellent book named Call to Righteousness. In this, the virtues of calling towards righteousness are discussed, the harms of neglecting it are explained, and a detailed description is provided on how to engage in this righteous endeavour, including the necessary considerations and precautions that must be taken. Every Muslim should read this book. You may purchase this from Maktabat al-Madinah or download it free of charge from Dawat-e-Islami’s website: www.dawateislami.net.

Summary

Dear Islamic brothers! In today’s speech, we learned that the actual station of mankind is that of Khilāfah, as this was the first matter mentioned in their regard. The meaning of Khilāfah is to uphold Allah Almighty’s commands on Earth. In simpler terms, it means striving for self-improvement and the betterment of others, with wisdom and as per the abilities afforded to us. This is our basic responsibility. We must all fulfil this duty, accept this reality in our hearts, and bring awareness of it within ourselves.
