Book Name:Dil Ki Islah Kyon Zarori Hai
The saint Mālik bin Dīnār رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه noted, “From all punishments administered to man, the gravest is their heart being made hard.”[1]
It is stated in a hadith:
اِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَنْظُرُ اِلٰی اَجْسَادِكُمْ، وَلَا اِلٰى صُوَرِكُمْ، وَلَكِنْ يَنْظُرُ اِلٰى قُلُوبِكُمْ
“Indeed, Allah does not look to your bodies or appearances, but instead looks to your hearts.”[2]
The Proof of Islam, Imam Ghazāli رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه writes:
This hadith highlights how one’s heart is what Allah looks upon. Astonishing is the person who decorates and purifies his outward for others to not see visible shortcomings upon him, yet does not ensure to purify his heart, the latter of which is looked at by Allah Himself. [3]
اللہُ اَکْبَر O those who love Allah’s Messenger! Let’s think about this for a moment.
When we wake up, we would never dream of leaving the home before washing our faces and sorting our appearance out. If our clothes are even slightly dirty, we hesitate before coming in front of anyone else.
