treasures. This is because Allah Almighty did not prefer this world for His Beloved Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. As such, those bounties which Allah Almighty preferred for His Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم are more beloved to me than those which Allah Almighty disliked for him. (Shu’ab-ul-Iman, vol. 4, p. 117, Hadith 4489, summarised) Remember! An abundance of wealth, money and comforts of this world are without doubt, a bounty. However, living in without them is a greater blessing. (Nayki ki Da’wat, p. 35)
The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: The world is sweet and in bloom; whosoever earns wealth through Halal means and spends it in the correct place, Allah Almighty will grant him reward and cause him to enter Paradise, and whosoever earns wealth through Haram means and spends it in the unrightful place, Allah Almighty will make him enter Dar-ul-Hawaan (the house of disgrace). (Shu’ab-ul-Iman, vol. 4, p. 39, Hadith 5527)
In Fayd-ul-Qadeer, Allamah Abdur-Rauf Manaawi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه writes the following under this Hadith: Thus, we come to known that in-and-of-itself, the world is not worthy of condemnation. This is due to the fact that it is the field of cultivation for the hereafter. For this reason, whosoever obtains something of the world with the permission of Shari’ah, then that will assist him in the hereafter. (Fayz-ul-Qadeer, vol. 3, p. 728, under the Hadith: 4273) Instead of running after the world more than we need to and amassing wealth through Haram means, we should develop a mindset to earn through Halal methods, and according to our means, we should also continue to give Sadaqa and charity, and financially support our family members, neighbours and others in need. The reality is that the one who helps others, Allah Almighty will assist him, and wealth only increases by giving it in the way of Allah Almighty, it does not decrease.
