Book Name:Sadqay ki Baharain ma Afzal Sadqaat

In order to persuade us, let us listen to two faith-refreshing parables consisting of the blessings of Sadaqah and charity and receive Madani pearls of advice from them:

Reward for one loaf of bread

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Bin Mas’ood رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَـالٰی عَـنْـهُمَا has narrated: A hermit named ‘Abdullah was occupied in worship for 60 years. He then committed sins for 6 nights being involved in the seduction of a woman. When he felt ashamed of his sins, he came running towards a Masjid where he found three hungry people; he gave one loaf of bread to them as Sadaqah and passed away. For weighing his deeds, the worship of 60 years was placed on one scale and on the second scale the sins of 6 days were placed; his sins outweighed the worship, but when the loaf of bread, which he gave in Sadaqah, was placed, it overcame the sins. When people got sick of his annoyance, they humbly requested Sayyiduna Saalih عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّنَا وَعَـلَـيْهِ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّلَام, ‘Huzoor! Put a curse on that person; we have become fed up with him.’ Sayyiduna Saalih عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّنَا وَعَـلَـيْهِ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّلَام said, ‘Go!         اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه عَزَّوَجَلَّ, you will be safe from his mischief,’ and they went away.

Every day, that person used to cut and bring sticks from the jungle in order to sell them to manage his livelihood for himself and his family. As usual, once he went to the jungle with two loaves of bread— he ate one and the other he
