The Gifts of Miraaj Night

Miraaj is a great miracle of our beloved Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ. It is a blessed journey of the beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ from Masjid Al Haram to Masjid Al Aqsa and from here to skies and from skies to above the skies. During this journey our beloved Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ was blessed with Divine sight and conversation. During this conversation the beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ was also awarded by the gift of Salah. The details behind this gift are very interesting let us learn about this great gift of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ to this Ummah.

The Gift of Salah:

The most beloved and greatest Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ said that Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ made 50 Salah Fard (obligatory) for me in one day and night. When I reached Sayyiduna Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام he said: What has your Rab عَزَّ وَجَلَّ Made obligatory for your Ummah? I said: 50 Salah made obligatory for every day and night. Listening this Sayyiduna Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام said: your Ummah will not be able to offer 50 Salahs as I have already tested Bani Israel. Go to your Rab عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and request Him to decrease them. The Holiest and beloved Rasool of Allah صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ said: I returned to my Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and humbly said: O my Rab عَزَّ وَجَلَّ Decrease the number of Salah for my Ummah. Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ decreased five Salahs. I reached Sayyiduna Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام and informed him that Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ had decreased five Salahs. Sayyiduna Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام said that your Ummah even will not be able to offer these Salahs; go to Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and request Him to decrease further.

The beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ said: I kept on coming to (Sayyiduna) Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام and going to the divine court of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ until only five Salahs were left (i.e. every time Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ decreased some number of Salahs, despite this (Sayyiduna Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام kept on sending me to the divine court of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ to get Salah decreased further). Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ said: O Muhammad صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ these are five Salahs for a day and night and every Salah will have 10 times more reward, (therefore as per reward) these five Salahs are equal to fifty Salahs. (Further favour of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is that), the one who intends to perform good deed and is unable to do it, so for him (just for his good intention) one virtue will be recorded and if he performs that good deed, so ten virtues will be recorded for him and if someone intends to commit bad deed, and does not commit that bad deed, so no sin will be written in his record of deeds (for the crime of bad intention). However, if he commits that bad deed, then one sin will be recorded.

The Prophet of Rahmah صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ then said: I then reached Hazrat Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام and informed him about these commands. He stated the same thing this time as well i.e. go to your Rab and requests Him to decrease further. The Noble Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ said: I asked Hazrat Musa عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام I have been to my Rabعَزَّ وَجَلَّ (for getting number of Salah decreased) so many times that now I feel shy (to go for this).

Other Gifts of Miraaj Night:

Other gifts were also bestowed upon the beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ at the night of Miraaj as it is mentioned in Sahih Muslim by Hazrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar رَضِیَ اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَنْہُمَا: “The Messenger of Allah صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ was given three (things) he was given five prayers, he was given the concluding Ayahs of Sura al-Baqara, and forgiveness of serious Sins for those among his Ummah who do not associate anything with Allah.”

Dear brothers all these gifts were given to our beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ for his Ummah. How merciful our Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is who has given us such great gifts. Our duty is to express gratitude to our Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ for these gifts and establish Salah (the great gift of Miraaj).
