(1) “Seeking lawful sustenance is an obligation after the fulfilment of the obligatory acts.”[1]
1.Whether one is an employer or employee, it is an obligation for both to learn the relevant Islamic rulings of trade. If they do not, they will be sinful.[2]
2.When employing someone, it is necessary to specify their duration of employment, working hours, salary, etc.[3]
3.The employee should write down the correct hours of their arrival and leaving of the workplace; if he lies, and despite working less hours, takes the full amount, he will be sinful and deserving of the punishment of the Fire.[4]
4.It is impermissible and a sin to have false certificates made in order to receive a pay rise or promotion.[5]
5.An employee should remain active and lively during working hours. He should avoid things that lead to laziness, such as sleeping late at night.[6]
6.If an employee cannot work in accordance with the agreed terms, he should inform his employer at once.[7]
