3. The best servants of Allah Almighty are those, who remind you of Allah Almighty when you look at them. The worst servants of Allah Almighty are those who roam telling tales, create separation among friends and find shortcomings in innocent people.[1]
4. Those who speak ill directly to the face, extract faults behind the back, tell tales and find flaws in innocent people, will be gathered in the form of dogs (on the Day of Judgement) by Allah Almighty.[2]
5. A tale-teller will be punished in his grave before the Hereafter.[3]
6. ‘لَا یَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّۃَ قَتَّاتٌ’ - A tale-teller will not enter Paradise.[4]
Explaining the last blessed Hadith, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه has commented:
‘قَتَّاتٌ’ is the one who secretly listens to the conversation of two groups that are against each other, and then relays one conversation to the other, in order to intensify the fight among them. If he dies with Iman, then he will not initially enter Paradise, and will enter later on. If he dies upon Kufr [disbelief], then he will never enter Paradise.[5]
Dear Islamic brothers! From the blessed Hadith we have just heard, we learn that tale-telling cuts one’s Iman. Whoever creates discord amongst Muslims by tale-telling is most disliked by Allah Almighty. A tale-teller is the worst person and they will be gathered in the form of dogs on the Day of Judgement. They will be subject to punishment in the grave before the Hereafter, and will not initially enter Paradise.
Alas! Whether it is a friends’ gathering or normal gathering after a religious Ijtima’, whether it is a wedding function or a gathering for condolence, whether someone speaks on the phone or meets someone; in short, if someone speaks for few minutes to someone and any insightful person possessing
