Qasim! What is this? Why are your feet swollen?” He replied, “اَللّٰہُ اَکْبَر, this is but a blessing.” Sayyiduna Abu Muhammad Hareeri رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه then asked, “O Abu Qasim! What is the harm if you take some rest?” He replied, “Now I have some time, in which I can gather some good deeds. After this, where will I get such time.” He then said اَللّٰہُ اَکْبَر and he passed away. It is also narrated that when someone said to him to have some sympathy on his body, he replied that my book of good deeds is now being closed. Therefore, in this very moment, who is in need of good deeds more than me.

Pious predecessors رَحْمَۃُ اللّٰہ ِ  عَلَیْہِمْ اَجْمَعِیْن and Muslims

Dear Islamic sisters! From the above parable, you can just imagine how engrossed our pious predecessors would be in relation to performing good deeds. Such that even at the time of death, when standing and offering Salah is not a possibility due to weakness, both feet have become swollen due to huge amounts of worship, pain is evident, but even with all of these excuses, the only wish is to attain some more good deeds, whereas on the other side, majority of the people are wasting their time in various pointless activities.

Our pious predecessors رَحْمَۃُ اللّٰہ ِ عَلَیْہِمْ اَجْمَعِیْن would lift their every footstep in accordance to religion and Shari’ah, whereas nowadays we want to run away from it. Along with Farz and Wajib, our pious predecessors would ensure they act upon Sunnah and Mustahab actions as well, whereas ignorant people even fail to act upon Farz and Wajibat. Our pious predecessors would spend their every second in yearning to attain good deeds, whereas there are such people who spend their whole life in ignorance until old age and are still not inclined towards performing good deeds.

Our pious predecessors would offer Fajr Salah with the same wudu they performed for Isha Salah for many years, whereas there are several people who do not even have the ability to wake up for Fajr.

Our pious predecessors رَحْمَۃُ اللّٰہ ِ عَلَیْہِمْ اَجْمَعِیْن would be so much in love with the Sunnahs of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, whereas many people are fanatics about fashion and the joys of this world.
