any form of anger. He just made me aware of my mistake in a soft and kind manner.” (Mufti-e-Dawat-e-Islami, pp. 38)

Importance and benefits of softness

Dear Islamic sisters! Just think of the softness of Mufti-e-Dawat-e-Islami        رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه. He would act with softness, if someone caused damage, he would make the person aware of his mistake and rectify the error with softness. Alas! There are a number of people in our society that do not act with softness, rather they come across as severe and harsh. Due to lack of softness, it seems as if acting with goodness and compassion is losing ground. Due to lack in softness, people are beginning to fight over little things and small mistakes. Due to lack in softness, the affection between people has begun to disappear and qualities such as patience and tolerance have decreased. People are not willing to forgive one another; whereas, softness is such a quality that is demanded by Shari’ah. Softness is such a quality that serves as the root of all kindness and persuades a person to be merciful. Softness is such a quality that it prevents a person from being cruel and arrogant. Softness is such a quality that it creates humility within a person and takes a person towards reconciliation and forbearance. Softness is such a quality that it makes a person beloved to everyone else and gets rid of harshness.

Let’s now listen to 2 blessed sayings of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم relating to softness:

۔1The Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated: “Verily, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ is a رفیق  and loves softness. He grants a person possessing softness such things that He عَزَّوَجَلَّ does not grant to a person who is harsh. Rather, He عَزَّوَجَلَّ does not grant on anything else other than softness.”
