الله! مجھے عالمِ دین بنا دے

اور دین کے احکام پہ بھی مجھ کو چلا دے

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب              صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! Home environment usually plays a key role in the development of a person’s character, whether it is good or bad. If family members, in particular, parents are committing evils, then children may also have its bad effects. On the other hand, if parents are pious, Salah-offering, Allah-fearing, devotees of Rasool and blessed with Islamic knowledge, then the blessing of their education, upbringing and virtues will not be limited to themselves only, but, by the grace and favour of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ, the blessing will transfer from generation to generation; as the first Islamic school of children is their home.

Mufti Ahmed Yar Khan رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has said: Children carefully see and hear every act of their parents and memorise their acts of worship and Du’as and try to imitate them. A father should try to set a good example as children imitate their father. The first Madrasah (school) of children is their home and the first Islamic teachers are their parents. (Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 4, pp. 28)

He رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has stated at another place: As a child gains understanding capabilities, he adopts habits similar to what he observes his parents and his fellows doing. Parents are the first teachers of their child; their company has a significant effect on the nature of the child. Therefore, it is necessary to find good husbands for your daughters and religious and pious wives for your sons so that the children become pious. (Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 1, pp. 100)

Dear Islamic brothers! Surely, it was by the grace of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ that Daata ‘Ali Hajwayri رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه possessed such virtuous qualities and the thirst for Islamic knowledge. In addition, his family members, especially the education and upbringing of parents also played a vital role in it.
