Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: And it is He who has made you vicegerents (successors) in the earth and ranked some of you high above others, in order that He may test you with what He has bestowed upon you.

(Part 8, Surah Al-An’aam, verse 165)

Regarding this verse Sadr-ul-AfaadilAllamah Maulana Sayyid Mufti Muhammad Na’eemuddin Muradabadi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has said: i.e., He makes you undergo tests and trials and observes how grateful you are after gaining a high status, blessings and wealth and how you treat one another.

(Khazaain-ul-‘Irfan, part 8, Taht-al-Ayah 165, pp. 285)

Dear Islamic brothers! From the above-mentioned blessed verse and its commentary, it has become obvious that this world is a home of tests and trials; here some are being tested with blessings and bestowals, and some are being tested after depriving them, they receive blessings to see if they will be grateful or not, and if blessings are not granted, then who remains patient or not. Therefore, by being patient and thankful in every circumstance, we should cheerfully give lots of Sadaqat besides acting upon Shar’i rulings and remain busy in accumulating the treasure of rewards for the Hereafter. At many places in the Holy Quran, we have been motivated to give Sadaqah. It is stated in verse 10 of Surah Al-Hadeed, part 27:

وَ مَا   لَکُمۡ    اَ لَّا   تُنۡفِقُوۡ ا  فِیۡ   سَبِیۡلِ  اللہِ   وَ  لِلہِ   مِیۡرَ اثُ   السَّمٰوٰ تِ   وَ الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ

Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: And what is to you, that you spend not in the way of Allah, whereas to Allah belongs the heritage of the Heavens and the earth altogether. (Part 27, Surah Al-Hadeed, verse 10)
