It is narrated about Sayyidunā Abū Muslim al-Khawlanī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه that he kept a whip in his masjid and he would say: “I am more deserving of this than four-legged animals.” Whenever he felt any laziness, he struck his calf with the whip once or twice.[1]
