evils entering our beliefs and acts of worship. This is spreading at an alarming rate. To remedy this, it is insufficient to only gain Islamic knowledge and stop there. We must learn, but then act upon our knowledge and try to reform others.

That is why Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri encourages everybody to reform others along with themselves. One way he does this is via his famous mission statement: “I must strive to reform myself and people of the entire world, اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه.”

The books of Ghawth al-AꜤẓam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه

Dear Islamic brothers! Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  wrote many books, both to spread Islamic knowledge and assist the Ummah.

In his book Tadhkirah Qādiriyya, Imam Alā al-Dīn رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه mentions the names of 7 books written by the Shaykh, before saying, “Reliable narrations tell us he penned 69 books in total.”[1]

His speeches

To spread physical and spiritual branches of knowledge, Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  rendered countless services to Islam through his teaching, writing, and public speaking.

His speeches were captivating, such that people flocked to listen and paid close attention. Attendees in his gatherings would not leave part way through but remain seated and listen to the speech silently for its entire duration. His words moved hearts and inspired minds.

When he began giving speeches, the madrasah would run out of space due to the number of attendees. People proceeded to buy the buildings
