The Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم were surprised as to who this honoured person was. When he left, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم explained, “When he recites ṣalāt upon me, he does so in these words.”[1]
6. The ṣalāt of intercession
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَنْزِلْہُ الْمَقْعَدَ الْمُقَرَّبَ عِنْدَكَ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَۃِ
The final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: “My intercession becomes wajib for whoever recites ṣalāt like this.”[2]
جَزَی اللّٰہُ عَنَّا مُحَمَّدًا مَا ھُوَ اَھْلُہٗ
The Companion ʿAbdullah Ibn ʿAbbās رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا narrates that the Messenger of Allah (صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم) stated, “Whoever recites this, 70 angels write good deeds for him for 1,000 days.”[3]
