Causes of being deprived of divine mercy
1. Being deprived of divine mercy due to sins
Dear Islamic brothers! We were hearing about those actions which make us worthy of Divine mercy, and how performing the Zikr of Allah Almighty, having fear of Him, reciting the Quran, having love for the Masajid, offering Salah in them, etc., are all such actions through the blessings of which a slave becomes worthy of Allah Almighty’s mercy. May Allah Almighty grant us also the ability to perform good deeds and to stay away from sins, for a person is deprived of Allah Almighty’s mercy due to the curse of sins.
Sayyiduna Abdullah Bin ‘Alawi Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states, ‘The sign of being deprived of the Merciful gaze of Allah Almighty and incurring His displeasure is that a person becomes engaged in sins.’ (Risalah Al-Muzakarah Ma’ Al-Akhwan Al-Mubeen Man Ahl Al-Khayr Waldayn, p. 43)
The calamity of one sin is such that a person falls into other sins, therefore, whether the sin is small or big, safety lies in staying away from it. Sayyiduna Bilal Bin Sa’d رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ states, ‘Do not look at how small a sin is, rather, look at the fact that Who you are disobeying.’ (Al-Zawajir ‘An-Iqtiraaf Al-Kaba’ir, vol. 1, p. 67) If we were to develop the following religious mindset at the time of intending to sin that ‘The Merciful Lord whom I am disobeying, He is watching me in every moment and in every state,’ then اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه we would be saved from many sins in this way. Remember! All sins are a cause of being deprived from Divine mercy. Let us hear about some of these sins:
One cause of being deprived of Allah Almighty’s mercy is disobeying parents, causing them pain, and remaining deprived of serving them and not being forgiven. The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, ‘(Jibraeel Ameen عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام made Du’a:) Whosoever found both of his parents or one of them, but did not treat them well and entered Hell,
