Woman found her drowned son by virtue of the blessing of Sadaqah
Sayyiduna Ikrimah رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ has stated: There was a country whose king was very cruel and stingy. He made this announcement in his country, ‘No one shall give anything in Sadaqah to any Faqeer and Miskeen[1] [i.e. very destitute], and nor shall anyone help any poor person. If anyone does so, I will cut off his hand.’ Having heard this news everyone was scared and feared from giving Sadaqah. One day, a helpless Faqeer [i.e. poor person] went to a woman and said, ‘Please give me something to eat for the pleasure of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.’ The woman said, ‘Our king has announced that the hand of the person who will give Sadaqah to anyone will be cut off. The order was carried out and the king married her with her consent. They started living happily. Other wives of the king started feeling
[1] Miskeen is he who does not have anything even does not have anything to eat and to cover his body and for this he asks people and for him it is Halal to ask for. For Faqeer it is impermissible to ask for something as if someone has something to eat and to cover his body, it is Haraam for him to ask for something without any need and compulsion.
