It is also stated that on that night he رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه invited the members of the caravan and said: You feel safe from Fudayl Bin ‘Iyaad. He رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه then went to get the food for their animals. Upon his return he رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه heard someone reciting the blessed Ayah of the Holy Quran:

اَلَمْ یَاْنِ لِلَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اَنْ تَخْشَعَ قُلُوْبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللّٰهِ

Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: Has not the time come for the believers to surrender their hearts to Allah’s remembrance. (Part 27, Surah Al-Hadeed, Ayah 16)

This blessed Ayah of the Holy Quran pierced his heart. He رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه started weeping bitterly and said putting dust on his clothes: Yes! Why not! I swear to Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ! Now the time has come; now the time has come. In the same way, he رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه kept weeping and then repented of his all past sins. (‘Uyoon-ul-Hikayaat, vol. 2, pp. 17)
