It is narrated that Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ said to Sayyiduna Mūsā Kalīmullāh (عَـلٰى نَبِيِّنَا وَعَـلَيْهِ الصَّلٰوةُ وَالسَّلَام), ‘I have bestowed two types of Nūr upon the Ummah of Muhammad (عَـلٰی صَاحِبِھَا الصَّلٰوةُ وَالسَّلَام) to protect them from the harm of two types of darkness.’ Sayyiduna Mūsā Kalīmullāh عَـلٰى نَبِيِّنَا وَعَـلَيْهِ الصَّلٰوةُ وَالسَّلَام humbly asked, ‘Yā Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ! What are those two types of Nūr?’ Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ said, ‘The Nūr of Ramadan and that of the Quran.’ Sayyiduna Mūsā Kalīmullāh عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام further asked, ‘What are those two types of darkness?’ Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ said, ‘The darkness of grave and that of the Judgement Day.’ (Durra-tun-Nāsihīn, pp. 9)

Fragrant grave

When Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Bin Ghaalib Hadaani عَـلَيۡهِ رَحْمَـةُ الـلّٰـهِ الۡـغَنِی was buried, a fragrant smell began emanating from his grave. Once someone saw him in a dream and asked: What kind of smell emanates from your grave. He said: ‘تِلۡكَ رَاءِحَةُ التِّلَاوَةِ وَالظَّمَاءِ’ i.e. this is the blessing of recitation and fasting.
