remain in his service for the rest of my life. So, I took permanent residence in the Imam’s masjid.

He also states:

I never saw Imam Abū Ḥanīfah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه except that he fasted during the day, he was never neglectful of worship and voluntary prayers at night; except that he would rest briefly before Ẓuhr.

Sayyidunā MisꜤar b. Kidām رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه was so impressed by the Imam that he spent the rest of his life in his service, to the extent that Sayyidunā Ibn Abī MuꜤādh رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states: “Sayyidunā MisꜤar b. Kidām رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه passed away in the masjid of Imam Abū Ḥanīfah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه in the state of prostration.”^[1]

Imam Abū Ḥanīfah’s Daily Worship

Dear Islamic brothers! It was Sayyidunā MisꜤar b. Kidām رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه who described, as an eyewitness, the worship of the great Imam. Let us now listen to the statements of five other pious predecessors regarding his worship:

1. Sayyidunā Ḥafṣ b. ꜤAbd al-Raḥmān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه says: “Imam Abū Ḥanīfah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه recited the entire Quran in a single rakꜤah every night for thirty years.”

2. Sayyidunā Asad b. ꜤAmr رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه said: “Imam Abū Ḥanīfah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه offered the Fajr prayer with the Wuḍūˈ of ꜤIshāˈ for 40 years. He completed the recitation of the Quran 7,000 times at the place where he passed away.”

3. Once, in the presence of Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh b. Mubārak رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه, someone raised an objection against Imam Abū Ḥanīfah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه.
