Sayyidunā Adam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم and the Belief in the Finality of Prophethood

A Companion of the Messenger, Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, narrates that the Final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: “When Allah created Sayyidunā Adam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم, He showed him his progeny. Adam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم saw some of his children as superior to others. Then, he saw a high and bright light at the very end. He asked: یَا رَبِّ! مَنْ ہٰذَا؟  (O my Lord! Who is this?). Allah said: 'O Adam! This is your son, Aḥmad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He is the first, and he is the last. He is the one who will be the first to intercede, and his intercession will be accepted first of all.'”[1]

A Companion of the Messenger, Sayyidunā Jābir b. Abdullāh رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, narrates that it was written between the shoulders of Allah’s Prophet, Adam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم: مُحَمَّدُ رَّسُوْلُ اللہِ خَاتَمُ النَّبِیّٖن  (Muhammadصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  is the Messenger of Allah and the Final Prophet).[2]

The First Azan on Earth

Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ  narrates that the Merciful Prophet      صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, said: " Adamعَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم  descended in the land of Hind (India), and he felt a little apprehensive. So, Sayyiduna Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم  came to him and gave the Azan. When he said, اَشْہَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمّدًا رَّسُوْلُ اللہ, Adam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم asked, مَنْ مُحَمَّد؟  (Who is Muhammad?). Sayyidunā Jibrīlعَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم  said:       اٰخِرُ وَلَدِکَ مِنَ الْاَنْبِیَاء  (Meaning, Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is the last of your children among the Prophets).”[3]
