Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh b. ꜤAmr b, ꜤĀs رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates that the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم recited the verse of the Holy Quran in which Prophet ꜤĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم will say to Allah Almighty on the Day of Judgment:
اِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَاِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَۚ-وَ اِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَاِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْعَزِیْزُ الْحَكِیْمُ(۱۱۸)
If you punish them, then they are your people, and if you pardon them, then indeed you are the Predominant, the Most-Wise.”[1]
Upon reciting this verse, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم began to weep, and he raised his blessed hands and prayed: 'O Allah! My Ummah, my Ummah!' Allah Almighty said to Sayyidunā Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم: 'O Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم! Go to My Beloved صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and ask him what is making him weep, even though your Lord knows well.' Jibrīlعَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم went to the Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and asked, whereupon the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم informed him of the reason for his grief. Then Allah Almighty said to Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم: 'Go to My Beloved صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and tell him:
إِنَّا سَنُرْضِيكَ فِي أُمَّتِكَ وَلَا نَسُوْ ءُكَ
