3 actions that lead to Paradise

    The Companion Abū SaꜤīd al-Khudrī رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ explains:

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم once took hold of my hand and declared, یَا اَبَا سَعِیْدٍ ثَلَاثَۃ مَنْ قَالَہُنَّ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّۃَ - “O Abū SaꜤīd! There are three matters; whoever says and accepts these shall enter Paradise.”

I asked, “What are these three matters, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied,  مَنْ رَضِیَ بِاللہِ رَبًا وَ بِالْاِسْلَامِ دِیْناً وَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُوْلًا-  “Whoever is pleased with Allah as their Lord, Islam as their religion, and Muhammad as their Messenger.”[1]

In one hadith, the following was then mentioned, وَجَبَتْ لَہٗ الْجَنَّۃُ. This now collectively means, whoever is pleased with Allah as their Lord, Islam as their religion and Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم as their Messenger; such a person shall have Paradise become wājib for them.[2]

    ꜤAbbās bin ꜤAbd al-Muṭṭalib رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, the Prophet’s loving uncle, explains how the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, ذَاقَ طَعْمَ الْاِیْمَانِ مَنْ رَضِیَ بِاللہِ رَبًّا وَ بِالْاِسْلَامِ دِیْنًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِیًّا – “Whoever is pleased with Allah as their Lord, Islam as their religion, and Muhammad as their Messenger, has found the sweetness of faith.”[3]

Islamic scholars describe how our hearts can taste intangible facets of spirituality (such as the positive spiritual effect fostered by acts of worship), the same way our tongues are able to taste things. When we
