in people’s sorrows and was most beloved to all. He was well-acquainted with the nobility and rank of the Quraysh, as well as their every virtue and shortcoming.

He was also a well-known and well-mannered businessman. People of the Quraysh, whether young or old, would visit him due to his knowledge and business acumen, seeking to spend time in his company. They would draw blessings from being around him, and he would individually strive to invite them to Islam by explaining its qualities.

Due to his effort, many who visited him would enter the fold of Islam.[1]

The Amir of Ahl al-Sunnah دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ writes on page 11 of his booklet The Aged (Idol) Worshipper:

Due to his individual efforts, five individuals accepted Islam and went on to become from the ʿAsharah Mubashharah. (It should be noted that the ten Companions عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ of the noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم who were given good news of Paradise in this world are known as the “ʿAsharah Mubashharah”.)[2]

The blessed names of the five individuals who accepted Islam due to Sayyidunā Abū Bakr Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ are:

1.   Sayyidunā ʿUthmān bin ʿAffān رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ 

2.   Sayyidunā Sʿad bin Abi Waqāṣ  رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ 

3.   Sayyidunā Ṭalḥah bin ʿUbaydullah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ 

4.   Sayyidunā Abd al-Raḥmān bin ʿAwf رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ
