Virtue of reciting Durood

The Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated:

اَوْلَی النَّاسِ بِیْ يَوْمَ الْقِیَامَةِ اَکْثَرُھُمْ عَلَیَّ صَلَاةً

i.e. “From amongst the people, the closest to me on the Day of Judgement will be the one who has recited the most Durood upon me.”

(Tirmizi, vol. 2, pp. 27, Hadees 484)

With regard to this blessed Hadees, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Na’eemi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states: “The most relaxed person on the Day of Judgement will be the one who is closest to the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and reciting blessed Durood is a means of being close to the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم”.
