they did in their lifetime. (After their apparent demise), they رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَالٰی use their authority to a lot greater degree (than they did in their lifetime). (1) Sayyiduna Ma’roof Karkhi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه, (2) Sayyiduna Shaykh ‘Abdul Qaadir Jeelani رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه, and two other apart from them (i.e. (3) Sayyiduna Shaykh ‘Aqeel Munjibi and (4) Sayyiduna Shaykh Haya Bin Qays Harraani رَحِمَهُمَا الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَالٰی). In this relation, let’s listen to two such faith enlightening parables where the blessed Awliya رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَالٰی fulfilled the need of the visitors of their shrines after their demise.

Fulfilling the need after demise

Sayyiduna Shaykh ‘Umar Faroosi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه states: I have been blessed with the privilege of visiting the blessed shrine of Sayyiduna Imam Rifaa’i رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه several times. Once, it even happened that he رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه loudly proclaimed from his grave regarding one of my needs that ‘Go! Your need has been fulfilled’. (Jaami’ Karamaat-e-Awliya, vol. 1, pp. 491)

Debt was written-off

Sayyiduna Hameedi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه states: Once, I was in debt. In the same state of distress, I visited the blessed shrine of Sayyiduna Muhammad Bin Ja’far Husayni رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه, sat there, recited the Holy Quran for a little while, and ended up crying. One of the visitors heard my weeping. He gave me some gold and said, ‘Take this gold for the sake of the Sahib-e-Mazaar [the one whose shrine it is].’ I took that gold and left. I had walked only a few steps and whom I was indebted to, arrived. He looked at me and smiled, and said, ‘Return this gold to him because I am more deserving of reward compared to him.’ Asking him about the removal of this debt from me, I asked him that ‘how did you come to know about my intention?’ He said, ‘I saw this pious saint (of whose shrine this is) in my dream. He said to me that if you forgive Hameedi (i.e. write-off his debt), then I will make you earn a palace in the Paradise.’ Thereafter, he not only forgave my debt but gave me further six dirhams.
