وَ اسْتَشْهِدُوْا شَهِیْدَیْنِ مِنْ رِّجَالِكُمْۚ

Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: And appoint two witnesses from amongst your men. (Part 3, Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 282)

It has become obvious that the testimony of a single man alone is not acceptable in any matter as per Shari’ah. This is the command of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ which is for all Muslims, but the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, with his own blessed will, exempted Sayyiduna Khuzaymah رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ from this general law and made Sayyiduna Khuzaymah’s testimony as the testimony of two men and stated: ‘مَنْ شَھِدَ لَہُ خُزَیْمَۃُ اَوْ شَھِدَ عَلَیْہِ فَہُوَ حَسْبُہُ’ i.e., whoever Khuzaymah             رَضِىَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ testifies for or against, his testimony alone is sufficient.

(i.e. after he has testified there is no need of any other witness in order to fulfil the Nisab of a testimony.)

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب           صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Power of Rasoolullah regarding the law of ‘Iddat  (period of waiting)

If the husband of a woman has died and the woman is not pregnant, Allah Almighty, in the Holy Quran, has mentioned her ‘Iddat four months and ten days. In Ayah 234 of Surah Al-Baqarah, part 2, it is stated:

وَ الَّذِیْنَ یُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنْكُمْ وَ یَذَرُوْنَ اَزْوَاجًا یَّتَرَبَّصْنَ بِاَنْفُسِهِنَّ اَرْبَعَةَ اَشْهُرٍ وَّ عَشْرًاۚ- Translation from Kanz-ul-Iman: And those among you who die leaving wives behind them, then such widows shall restrain themselves for four months and ten days. (Part 2, Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 234)
